Jeff Fassero went the distance as the North Carolina Wright Flyers defeated
the Halifax Hurricanes by a score of 5 to 1 at Kill Devil Hills.

North Carolina had 4 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 7th inning with
the help of 5 hits. The highlight belonged to Bret Boone who made the crowd
happy when he laced a single which was good for two runs. North Carolina had
a total of 11 hits for the game.

The win was credited to Fassero(1-0) who went the whole way allowing 1 run.
John Van Benschoten(0-1) took the loss. He allowed 7 hits and 6 walks in 6
innings.
