Coyotes Score Late to Comeback Over Wright Flyers

Pedro shut down the Wright Flyers the first 7 frames, but gave up 3 in the 8th, and Mears surrendered 2 more to give the Coyotes a 7-6 lead in the 8th. In the bottom of the 8th with 2 outs and men at 1st and 2nd, Barry Bonds, the hero of last game, was intentionally walked. This proved to be a great move as Edgar Renteria grounded out to end the inning. In the 9th, Renteria committed an error. After the error, another Coyote run would score, leading up to a Neifi Perez 3-run jack to put the Coyotes up 11-6. North Carolina scored twice in the 9th, but they were still 3 runs shy.

The Tega Cay Coyotes came roaring back in the top of the ninth to spoil the
anticipated celebration of the hometown fans.  The final score,, was 11 to
8.
 
Neifi Perez had a big evening at the plate.  He stroked a base-hit which was
good for two runs in the 8th inning and lost the ball over the fence for
three runs (his 1st of the season) in the 9th inning.  Despite losing, North
Carolina out-hit Tega Cay 17 to 12.  
 
Juan Cruz(2-1) picked up the victory, allowing 6 runs in 7 innings. Chris
Mears(1-1) was the loser in relief.  He gave up 2 hits and no walks without
retiring a batter.
